August 24 Adding Outline/Border to an Image in PSP
Adding Outline to An Image in PSP I wrote this tutorial as I couldn't get other tutorials on this subject to work. I hope you find it easy to use. Please don't copy this tutorial, instead link back to it by clicking on the 'Permalink' below. 1. Open your picture in PSP that you want to add the outline to. I'm using this one: (Right click on thumbnail & open link in new winow to 'Save As' to yr computer. Do Not Copy Please) 2. Click on the 'Freehand Tool'
Draw an outline around the image, trying to keep it as neat & even as possible, till you have reached back at the starting point. Double click with your left mouse button to see the outline turn into what looks like matching ants. (Right click & open link in new window to view thumbnail for example) 3. Go to 'Selections'> & click on 'Invert', then hit the delete button on your keyboard. This cuts out the background of your image & you are left with the image you outlined. 4. Go to your 'Materials (Color) Palatte' & choose the foreground color you would like your outline border to be. I chose bright blue sp you could see it better. 5. Click on the 'Flood Fill Tool' (Right click & open link in new window to view thumbnail for example) 6. Go to 'Selections'> & click on 'Invert' The back to 'Selections'> 'Modify'> 'Expand'. A window will pop up, so enter 10 pixels, then click OK (Once you know how to do this you can change the outline border width (pixels) as you please) (Right click & open link in new window to view thumbnail for example) 7. Go to 'Selections'> & click on 'Invert', then hit the 'Delete' button on your keyboard. Then go back to 'Selection'> & 'Invert' one last time. You should now have this: (Right click & open link in new window to view thumnail for example) 8. Lastly, go to 'Edit'> & click on 'Copy' Then back to 'Edit'> & click on 'Paste as New Image' There's your Bordered Image
You're Done! Please leave a comment if you use this tutorial, Thanks :) Comments (16)
